June 2016: 

      Ashley Griffith is awarded the Regents Outstanding Teaching Award.                  Offered annually in recognition of faculty members at the The University of         Texas System's nine academic and six health institutions who have                       demonstrated extraordinary classroom performance and innovation in                   undergraduate instruction, the Regents' Outstanding Teaching Awards are the         Board of Regents' highest honor.

  • Ciel Elizalde’s paper “Thrust fault nucleation due to heterogeneous bedding plane slip: Evidence from an Ohio coal mine” published in Engineering Geology

  • Hamed Ghaffari presented research results at the American Physical Society meeting in Baltimore, MD

February 2016:

  • Hamed Ghaffari’s paper “Observation of the Kibble-Zurek Mechanism in Microscopic Acoustic Crackling Noises” published in Nature Scientific Reports
